Testing information

Dear MCC Families,

On Wednesday, October 13th your child will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), an important test that provides many benefits that can help him or her along the path to college.

If your child is a junior, the PSAT/NMSQT offers him or her the opportunity to enter competitions for scholarships that can help pay for college.

For freshmen, sophomores and juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT is also great practice for the SAT®. They’ll also get personalized feedback on their performance to help improve their skills before taking the SAT.

In addition, students receive free college planning tools to help them start their college search and feedback on the types of AP courses for which they may be particularly well prepared. Taking these college-level classes can help students earn college credit while still in high school and provide them with a competitive advantage in the college admission process.

If your child is interested in hearing from colleges and universities across the country that are looking for students like him or her, remind your child to opt into Student Search Service® when he or she takes the test. To learn more about the PSAT/NMSQT and everything it can do for your child, please visit psat.org

What students must bring on Test Day

- Two No. 2 pencils with soft erasers; no pens or mechanical pencils (Mechanical pencils are not allowed because they may punch through the answer sheet or may not have No. 2 lead. Marks made with the wrong kind of lead don’t scan properly and may not be scored)

- Acceptable calculator (for the Math Test – Calculator portion of the test only)

- Snacks and drinks (which must be stored under the students’ desks during testing).

Testing will begin precisely at 8:00 AM. It is essential for all students to be on campus and in their homerooms on time. Late arrivals may forfeit the opportunity to test on this day.

Students must report to homeroom that morning.

Bus transportation will be available for bus riders after dismissal at approximately 11:45 AM.

Yours in Christ,

Dave Parker
Assistant Principal
