High School Placement Testing Registration
Registration for high school placement testing is now open. Families of 7th graders can register their child through Scholastic at this link using the code: ZX for the March 21st Pre-test. Additional information can be found on the parent page here.

Preparation for the Pre-HSPT
Are prep courses beneficial for Pre-HSPT preparation?
Scholastic Testing Service provides the following recommendations for students preparing for a successful testing experience:

• Follow Instructions: Listen to and read the directions for each subtest carefully.
• Time Management: Be mindful of the time limits for each subtest. Administrators will announce when time is halfway through, allowing students to check their pace. Avoid spending excessive time on individual questions.
• Read Carefully: Take time to read each question thoroughly.
• Problem Solving: Calculators are not permitted for the Mathematics subtest. Use scratch paper or the test booklet for calculations.
• Answer All Questions: If unsure of an answer, make an educated guess. Scores are based solely on the number of correct answers; there is no penalty for incorrect responses.
• Review Work: If time permits, revisit your answers to ensure accuracy. Confirm that the answer marked on your answer sheet corresponds to the item number in the test booklet.

Testing Day Requirements
On the day of the test, please bring your confirmation code and two number 2 pencils. Water and a snack are also permitted.

Breaks During Testing
Brief breaks will be offered between the five sections of the test. Students requiring accommodations may receive more frequent breaks. Please consider this when planning for pick-up, as the test duration may exceed three hours.

Calculator Policy
Calculators are not allowed unless prior documentation for accommodations has been submitted and approved by the testing site.

Payment Process
The cost for the HSPT is $35, which must be paid online by credit card during registration.

Use of Test Scores
This assessment tool is utilized by high schools for admission purposes, scholarship selection, and course placement.

Score Reports
During registration, parents will choose whether to receive an electronic or printed copy of the scores. Expect to receive these within one month of the test date.
