Melbourne Central Catholic (MCC) High School is a four-year college preparatory school located in Melbourne, Florida. Founded in 1961 by Archbishop Joseph Hurley, D.D, under the auspices of the Diocese of St. Augustine, the campus is located on 40 acres in Melbourne and includes 8 buildings, athletic fields, a gymnasium, a chapel and a media center.
MCC is a fully accredited, coeducational Catholic high school operated by the Diocese of Orlando. MCC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and has earned the prestigious US Department of Education "Blue Ribbon School of Excellence" award.
MCC has a professional teaching staff of 38. The average teaching experience is 13 years with 29% of the teachers holding a masters degree. Guidance services are provided a counselor, an academic advisor, a learning specialist and a ESOL teacher. Technology is supported by a network specialist and the media center is fully staffed.
There are approximately 499 students enrolled in grades 9-12. MCC does not discriminate against applicants or students based on gender, race, color or national or ethnic origins. The school attracts students from various family backgrounds. Diversification is maintained within the student body with an increasing number of international students who have relocated to study in the US. MCC has an extensive extracurricular athletic and club program. The athletic program is under the direction of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). Thirty-one teams compete in the FHSAA in 1A-3A level of competition. There are 10 honor societies and 25 clubs represented at MCC.
