SCRIP

ATTENTION PARENTS!!!    EARN TUITION CREDIT BY USING SCRIP!!

WHAT IS SCRIP?                                                                                                      SCRIP Frequently Aked Questions

Through either Holy Name of Jesus or St. Joseph School you can now earn credit towards your school tuition (at MCC) by purchasing Scrip gift cards.   Each family will receive 50% of the PROFIT they generate for the Scrip program into an account that will accumulate over this year to be used for tuition in the 2008-2009 school year.

For those not familiar with the program – SCRIP stands for substitute money – in other words scrip is gift cards from national and local retailers.  They’re the same gift cards that you buy at the store.  Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program.  Great Lakes Scrip Center (GLSC) is a national organization who acts on behalf of non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of gift certificates from grocery stores, department stores and other retailers.

How does the tuition credit work? Each family that wants to participate in the tuition credit program must complete either  a SJS registration form or HNJ registration (available in each Schools Office). You will be assigned an account number (first letter of your last name and the last 4 digits of your telephone number). This number must be on all orders in order to ensure proper credit. Throughout the current school year (until April 30) your account will be accumulating half of the profit earned by the school for every card or certificate purchased. The accumulated money will then be applied to your child’s tuition either at St. Josephs, Holy Name of Jesus or at Melbourne Central Catholic in the next school year.  Therefore,

  • Every time you buy groceries, you could be reducing your tuition.
  • Every time you put gas in your car, you could be reducing your tuition.
  • Every time you eat out in a restaurant, you could be reducing your tuition.

Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front participating retailers offer a discount. Families can earn between 1% to 10% on their purchases. Be sure to check out the latest list of participating GLSC retailers, the percentages they give the school and any usage details.

Using Scrip costs you absolutely nothing!  These are funds you are already spending in the community, with or without Scrip. The bonus is you are helping your own family cover some of your tuition expenses.  Think Scrip for weekly grocery, gas and video purchases, for birthday and holiday gifts, or for dinner at a restaurant or a quick bite at a fast food place.

In addition Publix gift cards are now available from Oct – Dec through the Scrip program.  These cards never expire, so stock up now and use for your everyday grocery needs!
