Anchor Club Assists Hospital

Central Catholic's Anchor Club students and members of the Pilot Club  delivered hand-made bereavement boxes to the labor and delivery unit of Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

The Anchor Club, an extension of the Pilot Club, participates in many community service projects. The students raise funds and identify community needs. For this project, Central Catholic students decorated memory boxes for the labor and delivery area. Here is a letter from one of the nurses:

"On behalf of myself and all the labor and delivery staff at Holmes Regional Medical Center, we would like to thank the students who took the time to make the bereavement boxes for our patients. It is something nice to give to the grieving parents and families who are experiencing the significant, profound loss of their baby. As Catholics, I think we are also sending the message that all life is precious. It is much nicer to present the special infant keepsakes in boxes lovingly made.  Bless you all on a job well done."

Sincerely,

Jane Sharpe, RNC
